New Tame Impala
From forthcoming new album Lonerism, this is Apocalypse Dreams. Still sounding like a mix between 60’s Britain, 70’s California and more recent Australian music. Nice.

Gotye - Somebody That I Used to Know feat. Kimbra
Chart music in the UK is an abysmal swamp of “RnB pop” where the only inspiration for lyrics seem to come from “babies in the club”.
So it took me by surprise that the charts can be so different in other countries, were song sales often are related to song quality. This fine, fine, simple, catchy indie song is currently Number 1 in Australia and I was humming it after only hearing it once.

Solitude Is Bliss, Tame Impala
It really is an exciting time in Australian music. Tame Impala are a psychedelic rock band from Perth which, in their words, “focus on dream-like melody.”

A Community Service Announcement, Jonathan Boulet
I’ll let the official press release talk for itself:
Jonathan Boulet is the newest player in the Modular clubhouse, a precociously inspired 21 year old skate rat from Sydney’s Northwest. A Community Service Announcement is the righteously smashing single from the Jonathan Boulet album, already a repeat performer at alternative and community radio. An inspired call to arms for 21st century dreamers, A Community Service Announcement’s unbridled joy is matched only by the riotous natural and digital destruction in it’s accompanying video, directed by New Zealand duo Special Problems.
Blimey. Enjoy! I know I did.

Clap Your Hands, Sia.
Today, music-loving children, I’m going to teach you about Australia, jazz-styled pop singer / songwriter, Sia Furler! With everyone song I post, a fact you shall have!
“Sia is bixesual, vegetarian and writes her songs with crayons.”
Lovely.
I shall be posting more Sia songs throughout the day.
